Friends of Kibimba Hospital (FKH) is currently raising funds the new 3-story building which is under construction. The first floor of this building will have an operating room and 100 beds, providing space for maternity care and for the care of premature babies. The second floor will house a 120-bed pediatric ward. The third-floor will include eight administrative rooms, a large meeting room, and 8 VIP rooms.
Construction of the third floor is completed and the roof has been finished, but all the rooms need doors, windows, walls, paint and furniture: beds, tables, chairs and desks.
You may give toward the completion of this project by visiting our PayPal donation page or by sending a donation to Friends of Kibimba Hospital, 3220 S. Oak Street, Wichita KS 67217.
The new building's roof is complete!
There is still work to do, but this is a big deal!
In 1955, the original Kibimba Hospital buildings were constructed to replace the small dispensaries set up by Arthur and Edna Chilson. Under the direction of Dr. Perry Rawson, the hospital thrived and thousands of people were shown the love of Christ through its staff. The hospital continued to function through the civil unrest of recent decades, though in a limited capacity due to water and electricity supply disruptions, lack of adequate staff, and many other difficulties.
In the last 20 years, several teams from EFC-MAYM have visited the hospital and worked to improve electrical and water systems, and helped the Kibimba staff treat patients. It was during one of these visits that the vision for restoring Kibimba Hospital to its best condition was inspired. Friends of Kibimba Hospital came together in the fall of 2006 to try to determine how people in the U.S. could partner with those in Burundi to accomplish this goal.
Dr. Nahimana Elisee is the third child of Pastor Bahenda, and was born at Kibimba Hospital. He is a surgeon, who studied in Madagascar with financial support from Friends Women in EFC-MAYM. He returned to work at Kibimba Hospital from 1990-1993 as a physician and director, but was forcd to flee the country during the war. During the years he was away from Burundi, he continued his study of surgery in the Ivory Coast. Dr. Nahimana returned to Kibimba Hospital in 2005 with two dreams, to "see it rehabilitated and treat many sick person who come there as it was during the period Dr. Rawson was there" and "to bring patients to Jesus because our physical life is for a small time but our spiritual life will live for eternity.

Pastor Butoyi Levy is the Hospital's chaplain. He visits patients daily and since the beginning of the year, he reports 186 patients have received salvation this year, averaging one per day! Some of them abandon witchcraft and burn their paraphernalia. When someone comes to Jesus, they receive a book entitled "The Heart of the Man" to strengthen their faith. How we praise God for these blessings.
Friends of Kibimba Hospital is partnering with Kibimba Yearly Meeting of Friends, Burundi, Africa, to restore the hospital at Kibimba. Our desire is to make available both medical and spiritual healing for the community by improving staffing, facilities, and equipment at the hospital. We will channel funds and short-term workers to help, with the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency.
